Lascaux, Dordogne - Set
Lascaux, Dordogne - Set for only GBP £0.79
After Lascaux 2, Lascaux 4 is the new facsimile of the Lascaux cave. It offers visitors an almost complete reconstruction of the public part of the original cave. It was conceived from a digital clone which made it possible to make shells on which artists projected the 3D images of the original cave. They then reproduced them identically with the same pigments and gestures as the men of prehistory to be closer to the original cave. We start by visiting the facsimile. An elevator transports us to the roof of the semi-underground building, 9 m high. In the darkness we go down gradually in the cavity and the light appears little by little. You really feel the cool (13 ° C to 16 ° C) and humidity. There is even a glimpse of the hole through which the discoverers passed in 1940. It's bluffing. We discover the Bull Hall, the Axial Diverticulum, the Passage, the Apse and the Nave with all their wonderful paintings. At the end of the visit several spaces allow to go further in the understanding of reconstitution techniques. Thanks to luminous processes it is possible to discover hidden drawings in stone. We also perform a tour of the parietal world through 3D projections. The establishment of this center aims to protect the hill where the original cave is located. The site of Lascaux 2 remains open to private visits, group reception, etc.
