The Aasivissuit-Nipisat hunting area in Western Green-land was added to the UNESCO Global Heritage List in 2018. This is only the third time that an area in Green-land has been added to this prestigious list. We are commemorating this event in the form of an attractive stamp, designed by talented artist Julie Edel Harden-berg.The Unesco Global Heritage List contributes towards drawing positive attention to the Earth that we all share and to human cultural and natural heritage. In Greenland, we are especially proud to see our ice fjord at Ilulissat, the rediscovered Norse settlements and agricultural ar-eas in Kujataa, and now also Aasivissuit–Nipisat as part of this list. The area near Aasivissuit–Nipisat is a story that dates back about 4,500 years that is all about how the populace has sustainably exploited the available resources in this very hardy landscape.
