Über Pro Juventute – Einander Unterstützen

Strong shoulders

The new Pro Juventute designs are about achieving growth together. The focus of one of the organization’s services is on young people being there for other young people.

Supporting one another is the theme chosen by Swiss Post in collaboration with Pro Juventute for its new stamps. “Most young people have a natural need to be there for one another,” Lulzana Musliu, Head of Public Affairs & Media at the Pro Juventute Foundation. That is why, on selected evenings and in addition to its telephone counselling service on 147, the organization also offers its peer chat service
for young people, allowing them to go to 147.ch to talk to their peers about their worries, needs, and fears. “Sometimes it is easier to ask your peers for advice than it is to talk to adults. Because they often understand the problems from their own experience,” says Musliu. One of the ways in which Pro Juventute supports the 147 counselling service is with the proceeds from Pro Juventute stamps. Most of the small amount of 50 and 60 centimes raised in soli- darity goes into the general pot used by the founda- tion to finance its various services.

A design by students

The stamp was created in collaboration with the Basel School of Design. Students in the graphic design course were commissioned to create two stamps as part of a competition, in groups of two where possible. The prize: production of the designs and publication as official Swiss Post stamps. Loyda Giarrusso and Yousef Ghedjati impressed the jury with their designs. In the interview, they reveal why this would not have been possible by going it alone.
