About Florian Albert - Commemorative Card

Flórián Albert was the only Hungarian footballer to win the Ballon dor and his honours in-clude playing for Hungary in several World and European championships, being the Sportsman of the Nation, an honorary citizen of Hercegszántó, Budapest and Ferencváros, and being decorated with the Middle Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary. Magyar Posta is issuing a commemorative sheet to mark the 71st anniversary of his birth, devoting HUF 100 from the sale of each sheet to support the aims of the Flórián Albert Foundation. The main aim of the Foundation is to preserve the memory and reputation of Flórián Albert and to promote the eternal values of Ferencvárosi Torna Club (FTC). The Foundation also seeks to provide national support for training young players, including appropriate personnel and facilities, and to find talented youngsters around the country which includes the possibility of finding success at FTC. It also supports youngsters talented at sport growing up in difficult circumstances and their families, organises training camps, and provides financial and professional help for sporting purposes. The Foundation collaborates with other social organisations, local authorities and educational institutions in Budapest and the provinces in finding and educating talented youngsters. The composition of Magyar Posta’s philatelic speciality features a montage of images of Flórián Albert together with the world famous footballer’s signature. The well-known footballer is also shown on the commemorative card for the commemorative sheet. The commemorative sheet in a Hawid mount is on the inside of the card, where there is also a tribute to the player in English and Hungarian. The commemorative sheet is available for purchase by collectors of philatelic speciali-ties and sport lovers in this exclusive holder.
