1918–19 member of the Estonian delegation abroad, 1919 foreign minister’s assistant, 1919–20 member of the Estonian delegation at the Tartu peace conference, 1920 diplomatic representative of Estonia in Great Britain, 1920–21 minister of war, 1921–22, 1925–26, 1933, 1939–40 foreign minister. 1917–19 member of the Diet, 1919–20 of the Constituent Assembly, 1920–23 of the 1st Riigikogu (parliament), 1932–40 of Riigivolikogu (lower house of parliament). 1930–40 member of Tartu City Council, 1935–38 chairman. 1919–40 Professor of international law at Tartu University. Member of numerous committees set up by public organisations, of academic societies and on foreign policy. Bearer of the Cross of Liberty III/1. Honorary citizen of Tuhalaane Parish. Ants Piip was arrested by the NKVD in the night before July 1, 1941 in Kiidjärve Parish, and died in the Noryb Prison in the Perm Region, Russia.
