Correos joins the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Hospital in Murcia by issuing a stamp in its HEALTH series. The stamp is an illustration based on a photograph of the hospital building.
The story began in 1975 with a line of ambulances transporting patients from the old Arrixaca Hospital (now the Morales Meseguer Hospital) to the new facilities in El Palmar. It was certainly a challenge, a logistical feat at the time. The facilities, known as the health city, were exemplary.
The incorporation of very young staff joined the existing staff, and the hospital's prestige as a healthcare, teaching, and research center began to grow.
For five decades, it has been a benchmark for its firm commitment to medical excellence, technological innovation, and caring for people.
Now the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Clinical Hospital is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and the workers are proud, but—and this is most important—the citizens are proud.

La Arrixaca is a regional hospital that serves more than 270,000 people. It is also a maternity and child hospital that serves the entire metropolitan area of Murcia (almost half a million people). It is a reference hospital for various diseases and treatment techniques, serving more than 1.5 million citizens.
And we do so with social responsibility. We have one of the two hospital environmental health units in Spain. Our vision of a healthcare model includes adaptation to the challenges posed by the climate and environmental crisis. We have a certified environmental management system.
