Under the concept of Spanish Food and taking into account the new consumer and the new society, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food is developing an ambitious Strategy: Food must become the main ingredient or foundation of a recipe that includes other factors such as sports, gastronomy, culture, fashion, tourism, the environment, and health.
Spain is a country where we are fortunate to produce all types of food, with its distinct gastronomic landscapes that make it a unique country. In addition to our exceptional raw materials, our culinary diversity must be highlighted. And in this gastronomic culture, fishing and aquaculture products have a very special place. Because we are a country with a long tradition of consuming fishing and aquaculture products, bathed by more than 8,000 km of coastline. Products that we enjoy in a multitude of preparations, both traditional and avant-garde.
But we are also a country that cares about the environment, firmly committed to the sustainable exploitation of fishing resources and the conservation of the seas and oceans. We are leaders in the fight against illegal fishing, and we are also committed to sustainable and safe aquaculture as a food supplier.
The new promotional campaign by Alimentos de España, "Llena tu mesa de Mar," offers an expeditious, call-to-action approach aimed at countering the downward trend in fish consumption, which has fallen 30% in the last ten years. The new creatives and messages have been developed in close collaboration with the General Secretariat of Fisheries and industry associations. The goal is to reconnect the population, especially young people, with the consumption of fish and seafood. Because eating fish can be easy, affordable, and, above all, delicious. We are the Richest Country in the World, so Fill Your Table with Seafood.
