About Films Shot In Monaco - Monte-Carlo
An American movie by Ernst Lubitsch released in 1930, Monte-Carlo was hailed by critics as a masterpiece of the newly emerging musical film genre. The screenplay was based on the Booth Tarkington novel Monsieur Beaucaire. The film tells the story of Countess Mara, who flees to Monaco to indulge her passion for gambling while she was due to marry Duke Von Liebenheim. Count Rudolph Fallière, a wealthy American on vacation in Monte-Carlo, falls in love with her. When his attempts at seduction fail miserably, he resorts to subterfuge to attract her attention.
