Aghdam District is located in the center of Karabakh, an ancient and beautiful land of Azerbaijan. Aghdam City is known for its historical monuments and buildings. One of the mosques in Aghdam—the Juma Mosque (built between 1868 and 1870)—is depicted on the souvenir sheet of three stamps.
The Karabakh Horse, shown on another stamp, is a mountain-compact horse breed developed in the Karabakh territory of Azerbaijan. This breed was further improved during the Karabakh Khanate in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is considered the oldest horse breed in Asia and the Caucasus. Since the mid-19th century, horses of this breed have been exhibited at World Horse Exhibitions. At the exhibition held in Paris, a horse named "Sumganda," bred at the Aghdam Horse Breeding Plant, set a record by running 1,600 meters in 1 minute and 54 seconds at the age of two, and 2,400 meters in 2 minutes and 52 seconds at the age of three.
In order to popularize the breed, the Aghdam Horse Breeding Plant has continued to participate in international exhibitions and competitions, showcasing the unique qualities and historic significance of the Karabakh Horse.
The third stamp features a mosaic on the wall of the Aghdam Bread Museum, considered the second of its kind in the world. The museum was established in 1982–1983 and has since become a local cultural monument. The Bread Museum complex also included a mill and a caravanserai.
