Sepac is an abbreviation for Small European Postal Administration Co-operation. It is a network of stamp or philatelic managers from the national postal services of the Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Greenland, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, Liechtenstein, Luxem- bourg, Malta, Monaco, the Vatican and Åland. The Sepac network has been in existence for 26 years. In recent years, Greenland has assumed chairmanship of the network.
Each year, Sepac members issue a stamp in respect of a common theme, which changes from year to year. Sepac stamps are recognisable by the special Sepac logo incorporated in the design of the stamps. To design this year’s Greenlandic S2e6p0ac52st0am25pB, we have teamed up with the artist and architect Naja Rosing-Asvid.
Ilulissat Icefjord Centre
Although Greenland is famed for its magnificent scenery and unique cultural heritage, contemporary Greenlandic architecture has also been making its mark in recent years. To celebrate this architectural development, Tusass Greenland is issuing a stamp that pays tribute to one of the country’s most iconic buildings: Ilulissat Icefjord Centre.
The Icefjord Centre, situated on the spectacular icefjord in Ilulissat, is not only a cultural hub, but also an architectural masterpiece. The building impres- sively combines modern design with respect for the surrounding nature. Inspired by the dynamism of the Icefjord, the shape of the building is both elegant and organic, making it a landmark for contemporary Greenlandic architecture. Architect Dorthe Mandrup designed the Icefjord Centre. She has accomplished this with great respect for the surrounding nature.
This Tusass Greenland stamp is a tribute to this architectural gem. With a stunning reproduction of Ilulissat Icefjord Centre, Naja’s stamp design captures the essence of Greenland’s ability to combine tradition and innovation in a contemporary, architectural expression.
