About Oranjestad, 200 Years

To honor the 200th anniversary of Oranjestad, the capital of Aruba, a special series of commemorative stamps has been issued called: “Oranjestad, 200 years”. These stamps emission reflects the rich historical and cultural significance of Oranjestad, a city that has grown from a small settlement around Fort Zoutman into a vibrant and modern capital.

The design of the stamps highlights key moments and landmarks from Oranjestad's past and present. Among them are depictions of our harbour in Oranjestad. And also a part of the Mainstreet, where nowadays the tram runs through the city center with its colorful colonial architecture that characterizes the city's unique charm.

Each stamp tells a piece of the story that has shaped Oranjestad over the last two centuries.

These stamps not only celebrates Oranjestad's bicentennial (200 years) but also aims to educate and inspire both locals and international collectors about the city's journey and enduring spirit.
