In 2025, Magyar Posta will expand its range of thematic personalised stamps with a new label stamp in honour of the 75th Miners' Day • Tatabánya. The thematic personalised stamp was produced in 12,250 copies based on a design by graphic artist Imre Benedek.
One of the most beautiful traditions of the town of Tatabánya, Miners' Day, will be held for the 75th time this year. The participants will remember, honour, and celebrate Tatabánya's mining past, which lives on not only in the pages of history books, but also as part of everyday life in Tatabánya—in the city's landmarks, his- tory, and local community.
The Vince Ranzinger Lookout Tower, originally built in 1980 on Csúcs Hill as a mine tower in memory of the miners who died in the 1978 mining accident, is
closely linked to the festivity. It was fully reconstructed in 2008 and was officially named after mining engineer Vince Ranzinger (1856–1933), the mine director of the Hungarian General Coal Mining Company in Tatabánya, who introduced in- novations such as slurry technology, which laid the foundation for the develop- ment of local coal mining. Having climbed the 156 steps of the 30-meter-high look- out tower, you are rewarded with an unparalleled panorama: on a clear day, you can see Tata, Környe, Oroszlány and even Komárom.
The central venue for the Miners' Day in 2025 will be the 1 May Park, where visi- tors can take part in mining commemorations, fantastic concerts, cultural and chil- dren's programs, a craft fair, and enjoy a wealth of gastronomic experiences over three days. The 75th Miners' Day in Tatabánya is not just an event, but the beating heart of this city and community, a remembrance of the past and a way of passing on mining traditions to future generations.
The main element of the stamp is the Vince Ranzinger lookout tower. The stamp features symbols associated with mining: a graphic composition consisting of a miner's pickaxe, hammer, and lamp.
