Culture - Mondiacult 25 Spain, Barcelona

The UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT 2025) is being held this year in Barcelona from September 29 to October 1. A diverse group of stakeholders, including ministers from numerous countries, cultural institutions, sector experts and professionals, and representatives of civil society, will participate in the meeting. It will address the cultural policy priorities of our time in a world increasingly shaped by growing inequalities, the climate crisis, conflict, and rapid digital transformation.

Through inclusive and constructive dialogue, the Conference aims to strengthen multilateral collaboration and solidarity among countries, while promoting the role of culture in the global development agenda. In line with other global forums such as the G20 and COP29, the MONDICULT 2025 Compact for the Future will advocate for a standalone goal for culture in the United Nations post-2030 development agenda. This will demonstrate the collective ambition of UNESCO Member States to fully recognize and harness the transformative power of culture as a foundation for sustainable development.
