Between November 5th and 9th, Cádiz will host the 29th National Youth Philatelic Exhibition. This exhibition is held every two years in a different city, and since 2023 it has coincided with the EXFILNA book fair, meaning that in November Cádiz will be filled with stamps, becoming the philatelic capital of the world.
Both exhibitions share a unique location at the Baluarte Candelaria, where, in addition to admiring the stamp displays, a whole series of activities will take place.
As this exhibition is aimed at a younger audience, the chosen theme is: Puppets.
Batillo, the great-nephew of the famous Aunt Norica, is more than just the name of a puppet. He is a key character in Aunt Norica's adventures and symbolizes the feelings and idiosyncrasies of the people of Cádiz.
Aunt Norica of Cádiz is a puppetry tradition with over 200 years of history. Recent research dates its existence to around 1790. For the past 40 years, a group of artists has been working on its restoration and definitive consolidation.
It has been awarded numerous prizes, including the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts of Spain. Currently, its artisanal collection is awaiting declaration as an Asset of Cultural Interest by the Regional Government of Andalusia.
