UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity - Tradition of Blacksmithing in Gyumri
On November 28th, 2025, one postage stamp dedicated to the theme “UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Tradition of Blacksmithing in Gyumri” has been put into circulation.
The postage stamp with the nominal value of 500 AMD depicts the blacksmiths at work and sparks from the contact of a hammer and red-hot metal. The postage stamp also depicts the logotype of UNESCO as the tradition of blacksmithing in Gyumri is included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The postage stamp also depicts the inscriptions “TRADITION OF BLACKSMITHING IN GYUMRI” in Armenian and English languages.
Blacksmithing has been one of the most popular crafts in Armenia, but as an urban craft, it gained its full expression in Gyumri and flourished in the 19th century.
