United in diversity
To celebrate the anniversary of the EUROPA stamp, two special stamps are being issued: the winning design from the Europe wide competition, “United in cooperation” by Finland, and the Swiss design, “United in uniqueness”.
All PostEurop members were invited to submit designs based on the theme “70th anniversary of EUROPA stamp United in integrity, cooperation, diversity, creativity, innovation, uniqueness and passion”. The winning entry was submitted by Finland’s postal service and features a minimalist, symbolic design: a rising dotted line reminiscent of the perforation on a stamp, while also representing progress and connection. The seven dots symbolize the 70 years of cooperation between Eu- ropean postal organizations. The dotted background and soft colour gradients are a subtle reference to the colours of Europe.
United in uniqueness
Switzerland’s design offers a more playful interpretation of the anniversary. Several stamps of various shapes, colours and perforations come together to form a circle, symbolizing solidarity and the strength that emerges from diversity. Different postmarks indicate that these stamps come from different regions. The stamp was created by Zurich based designer Michael Stünzi.
