3rd Maccabiah - Runner & Track

This stamp commemorates the 3rd Maccabiah Games, issued 1950, depicting a runner on a track. The Maccabiah, often called the 'Jewish Olympics,' resumed in 1950 after a wartime hiatus. Singles without tabs are modestly priced and popular among sports-theme topicalists. One of the first Israeli stamps with an explicit athletic design.

The tab bears Hebrew Maccabiah Games inscriptions or the flame/torch motif. Tab copies are scarcer than singles and popular with both Israel and Olympic-movement topicalists. Never-hinged with an undamaged tab represents the premium collectible standard.
