First Air Mails

Israel's first airmail set, issued 1950, with six values depicting airplanes over Israeli landscapes. The designs include views of Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem from the air, making them popular topicals. Singles (listed here without tabs) are readily collected as a complete aviation thematic set. Israel's first airmails mark the country's entry into international airmail service.

Tab-attached airmails are considerably scarcer than plain singles. The tabs bear Hebrew airmail inscriptions and sometimes airline route designations. A complete tab set of all six values in never-hinged condition is a prize early-Israel holding.
