Moo-sic that brings people together
This stamp bears the DNA of Stubete Gäng, who aim to unite city and countryside, young and old, with their “Örbn Ländlr” style. Based on the core idea “What happens when a band designs a stamp?”, Swiss Post aims to give Swiss public figures in this case from the world of music the opportunity to create culture in the form of a stamp.

Listening to their hits, such as “Petra Sturzenegger” and “Göschene Airolo”, instantly lifts the spirits. Stubete Gäng’s

music is a mix of traditional and modern, peppered with a dash of humour, and this is reflected in the band’s stamp. The Stubete Gäng brothers, Aurel and Moritz Hassler, explain how the stamp came about and which song the cow in the image is listening to.

Tell us about your experience of designing a stamp as a band.
Aurel: Above all, we felt honoured. Never in our wildest dreams did we think our music could take us this far.

Moritz: Coming up with the right design and a matching postmark for the stamp was a bit like writing a song. We asked ourselves what felt right for us and how to bring it to life in an appealing and humorous way.

What does the design stand for?
Aurel: Stubete Gäng stands for building bridges, for connecting urban and rural culture in our country. That’s how we ended up with the design. We simply sent a cow into town with some money to spend at the fair, and it came back as shown in the image.

Moritz: Cows are wonderful animals. They’re sociable, intelligent and curious all great qualities. In today’s fast paced world where things change quickly, the cow remains a cow and still goes “moo”, even with headphones and roller-skates.

What song is the cow listening to?
Aurel: A song from our latest album, which was released this year. Or perhaps an old song, or maybe even some classical moo-sic!

Are you into stamps at all?
Moritz: We used to collect various things when we were kids, such as Coca Cola cans, stones, model cars and insects. When we showed our collection to our grandpa one day, he told us about his stamp collection. We can still clearly remember what our grandparents used to tell us about stamps.

Aurel: Stamps symbolize global communication that transcends borders and connects people and nations worldwide. It’s like the Internet of the not so distant past.

When was the last time you sent a letter or greeting card?
Aurel: I send letters almost every week admin letters or signed cards for fans. But I rarely send letters in the traditional sense these days: handwritten words to a friend someone I want to dedicate a little more time to than I would with an e-mail. Sometimes I also send postcards when I’m on holiday.
