Lighthouses

The building of the lighthouse was finished in 1884 and it was named after the promontory on which it was built. The lighthouse of St. Peter is today included in the cultural-historical valorisation project „Stone Lights“, and tourists from all parts of the world stay in it from May to October.

Austro -Hungarian Monarchy entered this location into the map of future Adriatic lighthouses because of the proximity of the quarry of Brač, situated at the opposite promontory of the same bay.

The lighthouse Pokonji dol is just one in a series of valuable tourist souvenirs of Hvar which marks - with its light beam from the east, the island group of Pakleni otoci (Hell's Islands).
