Flora

The Herzegovina territory is enriched with various endemic plants. The high mountains of Herzegovina Prenj, Čvrsnica, Čabulja and Vran behold numerous rare plant species of a narrow spreading area.

Some of them are stenoendems and can be found exclusively on these mountains or even on just one of the mountains.

Other endemic plants are endems of the Dinarida, that is, they are found on the wide area of the Dinarida.

The dinarian gentian (Dentiana dinarica) is the endem of the Dinarida and can be found on the territory from Velebit to Albania even at above sea levels of 2000 meters.

The thorn bush (petteria ramentacea) is the endem of the karst territory of the Dinarida and grows at a lower above sea level height at the foot of the high mountains of Herzegovina.
