About Archeological Treasure - Kocerin Stone Tablet

Kočerin tablet is the longest and one of the most important medieval stone titles written in the old letter called bosančica or in Croatian Latin alphabet how it is been called.
It was developed in the year of 1404 and was set up like a footer of the standing tomb-stone on the cemetery Vignja Milošević on the necropolis Lipovac, some 1 kilometer west from today’s village Kočerin (Kočerin is situated round some 9 kilometers from Široki Brijeg by the main road Široki Brijeg - Posušje).

1880. – 1883. it was dislocated to Kočerin and it was built in the right side of the wall at the priest’s office entry. In May 2004. it was taken out from the wall and now it is exposed in the Priest’s office in Kočerin.

Its width in lower section is 54 cm; in the middle section it is 49 cm, at the top it is 50 cm.
Tablet height is 137 cm but with damaged top. The topside of the tablet has comb in the stone. Tablet thickness in lower section is 16 cm and in the top section is 20 cm. Extension line is proper and leveled up like every other side of tablet. The title is consisted of 25 rows with 9-15 signs, so entire tablet consists 300 signs.

Text starts with the signs of the cross and the words: VA IME OCA I SINA I SVETOGA DUHA AMIN SE LEŽI VIGANJ MILOŠEVIĆ...
In the text five rulers are mentioned by chronological order of their reign since Banus Stjepan (II. Kotromanica), king Tvrtko, king Dabisa, queen Gruba (Jelena) and king Ostoja.

The text ends: I MOLU VAS NE NASTUPITE NA ME JA SAM BIL KAKO VI ESTE VI ĆETE BITI KAKOV SAM JA. (Grgo Mikulić)
