The 70th Anniversary of the Cross on Mt. Krizevac

In 1934, the parishioners of Međugorje erected a concrete cross, 8.56 meters in height, in commemoration of the 1,900 years of the Passion of Jesus.Since then, Holy Mass has been celebrated every year on Mt. Križevac on the first Sunday after the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lady in honor of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

Many people have witnessed various signs on this cross since the Međugorje apparitions began on June 24, 1981.The over 20 million pilgrims who have visited Međugorje during the past 23 years have accepted the pilgrimage practice of climbing Mt. Križevac.

Today, Mt. Križevac, Apparition Hill and the Church of St. James are centers of prayer and pilgrimage by the parishioners of Međugorje and pilgrims from all over the world.
