The First Mention of Samogitians in Historical Sources - 800

The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania declared 2019 the year of Samogitia. The resolution he adopted emphasizes the decisive importance of Samogitia in the 13th-14th centuries of Lithuania and the Baltic Sea. In the history of the formation of the states, the German Order commits the conquests of the Curonian and Prussian tribes, and also the role of Samogitia in the history of Europe in 1236–1422. The 200-year battle with the Order for the defense of its land and freedom, its contribution to the victory of the Sun and the Durbe battles, ensuring the strengthening of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, protecting the Latvian and Estonian lands from the Prussian fate.
