Tallinn University 100 Years of Leading Intelligent Lifestyle

Tallinn University has been the leader and promoter of intelligent lifestyle in Estonia by educating new teachers and serving as an education innovator for 100 years already. Education for new teachers commenced in Tallinn in the year 1919 and even though the names of the educational institutions have changed, continuity has never been interrupted. The moment of creation of Tallinn University is considered to be 18 March 2005 and its predecessors include Tallinn Pedagogical University and Tallinn Pedagogical Institute.

The extent of the spheres of responsibility of Tallinn University has become significantly bigger as a result of the merger of several educational and research institutions – from educating new teachers to choreography. We have directed our resources and activities into five broad interdisciplinary focus fields: educational innovation, digital and media culture, cultural competences, healthy and sustainable lifestyle and society and open governance.

We have established the goal of being the leader and promoter of intelligent lifestyle in Estonia as we wish to achieve better harmony with the necessities of society. Intelligent lifestyle above all means knowledge-based decisions for the better functioning of society and its citizens.
