Valentine's Day
Love deserves to be celebrated every day, and Valentine’s Day or Saint Valentine’s Day is a wonderful occasion to express it with a romantic gesture as well. It is traditionally celebrated on February 14th.
There are various legends about Saint Valentine. One of them says that he lived in Rome and despite the imperial order that soldiers should not marry, he married young couples in love. Saint Valentine was imprisoned for violating that order and thrown into prison, where he was beheaded on February 14. Another legend tells of the love of a young Christian woman and a Roman legionary who embraced her faith. While they were engaged, they fell ill, and St. Valentin married them on their deathbed.
The heart has been the symbol of Valentine's Day since ancient times when it was believed to be a source of feelings and love. If you give your heart to a loved one, you are giving yourself. Love is a miracle and it works miracles. It makes everyone a better person and gives hope for a better future. Valentine’s Day reminds us that love should come first every day of the year because only love gives meaning to life. (Željka Šaravanja)
