World Post Day - Rosa Postman
World Post Day is celebrated every year on October 9, coinciding with the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 in Switzerland's capital, Bern. It was declared World Post Day by the UPU (Universal Postal Union) Congress held in Tokyo, Japan in 1969.
The purpose of this World Post Day is to raise awareness of the role of the postal sector in everyday life and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries. Every year, more than 150 countries celebrate this day in various ways.
This 2022, Correos wanted to celebrate World Post Day by issuing a stamp with a new variety of rose: the letter carrier's rose. This rose wants to pay tribute to all the letter carriers and postwomen who, especially in these years of pandemic have contributed to our society by maintaining the communication network so that we all remain connected, receive parcels, letters, .... especially, being a dynamic agent of rural areas.
