The Christmas Mail

Since 1999, Slovenská pošta, a.s., has made the mysterious pre-Christmas period even more exciting for children and adults with their exceptional project, the Christmas Mail. For a quarter of a century, children have been able to send letters or postcards with their Christmas wishes to the Baby Jesus at the address “Ježiško 999 99”, complete with a drawing. Since 2013, the artwork sent by children have been the theme of a postage stamp and FDC, which are released as a special issue. In 2023, the drawing for the Christmas stamp came from Alexandra Horváthová of Kmet‘ovo: “Two Snowmen”. It depicts the typical winter motif of a snowy landscape with coniferous trees bearing Christmas decorations.

The motif of the FDC overprint is a thematically related drawing from Lívia Sedliačková of Strečno: “Snowman” The FDC postmark has the motif of a sleigh bearing a Christmas present and is the work of Ramónka Uňatinská of Okoličná na Ostrove. The graphic design of the artwork was created by Mgr. art. Jakub Tóth. Thanks to Slovak Post a message from the skilled hands and clever minds of children will be spread across the world like a gentle hint of romance on letters and postcards.
