Water Polo World Champion
The souvenir sheet was issued in cooperation with the Croatian Water Polo Federation.
For the third time in history, Croatia has been crowned world champion in water polo! In a thrilling final that ended after a penalty shootout, Croatia beat Italy 15-13 in Doha.
Following their fantastic success in Zagreb, where the national team won a silver medal at the January European Water Polo Championship in Zagreb, the Barracudas have brought home the most prestigious prize from the World Championships the following month - gold!
The Croatian flag waved in the capital of Qatar while the Croatian national anthem “Our Beautiful” echoed throughout the stunning Aspire Dome and on small screens in homes around the world.
The Barracudas have once again proven that Croatian water polo ranks as our sport with the most trophies.
