Integration of the Baltic States into the European Electricity System

In Estonia, there are over 5,100 kilometers of high-voltage power lines and cross-border connections that link Estonia's electrical system with Finland and Latvia, and until February 8, 2025, with the Russian electrical system. On February 9, 2025, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania synchronized the Baltic States' electrical systems with the Continental European frequency, ending their dependency on the Russian electrical system. This is a strategic and historic event marking the final step of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania’s integration with Europe.
