The Clube Português de Canicultura (Portuguese Kennel Club – CPC) is the managing body for dog breeding in Portugal, with 128 years of history. Recognised with the status of Legal Body of Public Interest and a member of the Federation Cynologique Internationale, the CPC plays a fundamental role in preserving and valuing canine breeds, training responsible breeders and organising large and small-scale events that link the role of dogs to the dynamics of society. The CPC recently became the first kennel club to be recognized by UNESCO, reflecting its cultural and social importance. With the aim of promoting animal welfare and ongoing education, the CPC continues to be an essential pillar for all dog-lovers in Portugal, strengthening the considerable impact that this sector represents in historical, cultural and economic spheres.
