The postal issue depicts a view of the amphitheatre of Paphos, one of the UNESCO sites on the island of Cyprus. Inscribed in 1980, Paphos was a centre of the cult of Aphrodite and pre-Hellenic fertility deities. The remains of villas, palaces, theatres, fortresses and tombs make the site of exceptional architectural and historical value. 2025 will mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cyprus and San Marino. Completing the value is ‘1.35’, ‘San Marino’, the Coat of Arms of the Republic, the legend ‘UNESCO Sites: Cyprus - 79 Paphos’, the name of the designer and the year 2025. The band to the left of the mini-sheet shows a short text on the Unesco site at the top and an illustration of the Public Palace and the map of Cyprus with the location of the site at the bottom.
