About First Coin Stamps of Israel Single

These stamps comprise Israel's first stamps, the 'Doar Ivri' (Hebrew Post) coins-and-ancient-symbol set issued May 16, 1948 — the day after independence. Six values (3m–250m) depict ancient Jewish coins on a plain background. Singles without tabs are the most common form. Printed by the American Bank Note Co. on unwatermarked paper; perforated 11.

Tabs bear Hebrew text identifying the denomination or the issuing authority. Tab-attached copies are far scarcer than singles and command a substantial premium. Essential for the serious Israel specialist seeking full, never-hinged examples.
