The “Figures of History and Culture” (Vultos da História e da Cultura) series is a set of commemorative stamps issued regularly by CTT – Correios de Portugal to honor important Portuguese figures from history, arts, literature, science, and public life. Each year’s issue features a selection of notable personalities; for example, the 2025 set includes individuals such as composer João Domingos Bomtempo, actress Palmira Bastos, writer José Cardoso Pires, and ceramic artist Querubim Lapa, among others who contributed significantly to Portuguese culture and society. Earlier issues, like the 2023 edition, highlighted figures including Adriano Moreira, Eugénio de Andrade, and Natália Correia. These stamps are popular among collectors, often released as complete sets or first-day covers, and are valued both for their artistic design and their celebration of Portugal’s cultural heritage.
