About Jersey Post & Go – The Crest of Jersey
The island of Jersey has been a Crown dependency since 1204 and in 1279, the seal from which the Coat of Arms, or Crest of Jersey is derived, was granted to the Bailiff of Jersey by King Edward I. Hundreds of years later, it was recognised by the College of Arms that they held no records of this event as the College was not incorporated until 1484. In 1907, the continued use of the Arms of Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney, “as previously granted”, was sanctioned by King Edward VII.
