2018Lithuania in the World - First Day Cover

Already, our free thoughts have been turning to words, our words to messages, and our messages to actions for a hundred years. They travel across Lithuania and around the world in letters, postcards and parcels. For a hundred years, Lietuvos paštas has also been gladly delivering them to Lithuanians who become united and are now sharing one big piece of news: “We are a hundred years old. We are free and independent.” To celebrate 100 years of the restored Lithuania, as well the 100th Anniversary of its operations, Lietuvos paštas has memorialised 100 people who have contributed the most to uniting Lithuanians in the world in this special souvenir sheet. Also, the people who are living, creating and uniting Lithuania now, and not just the faces of famous Lithuanians from the past, are being pictured on stamps for the first time.
