Commemorating European Maritime Day 2013 with a set of three stamps depicting cruise liners that have visited the Valletta Cruise Port in previous years.
European Maritime Day - 2013
As part of the EU's Integrated Maritime Policy launched in 2007, the European Council, the European Parliament and the European Commission chose the 20th of May as the day to celebrate the European Maritime Day. On this day, tribute is paid to 'Maritime Europe'. All maritime sectors and activities are put in the spotlight to encourage European citizens to realise the variety of ongoing searelated activities in Europe.
Malta has been chosen as the destination for the 6th edition of the European Maritime Day conference organised on the 21st to the 22nd of May. It is therefore fitting to celebrate this occasion with a set of three commemorative stamps depicting cruise liners that have visited our shores. Cruise liner arrivals have increased over recent years and play a significant role in the success of Malta's tourism industry.
For this occasion MaltaPost has chosen three prominent cruise liners which have graced the Valletta Cruise Port in previous years.
