About Opera Singers - Freda Betti

Freda Betti is a French mezzo-soprano, born in 1924 in Nice. She studied music and more particularly singing with Édouard Rouard at the Nice Conservatory where she won a first prize in 1943. She made her debut at the Monte-Carlo Opera in 1947 in Faust by Charles Gounod. During the 50s and 60s, she performed on major national and European stages, in numerous opera festivals and frequently sang for the radio. Among her repertoire, we can cite The Walkyrie, Don Quixote, Madame Butterfly, Tristan and Isolde and especially Carmen, which she performs more than 150 times. In the 1970s, she devoted herself to teaching singing at the Monaco Conservatory.
