About 80th Anniversary of the End of the Second World War
The postal series pays tribute to an extraordinary chapter in San Marino history: the reception of over 100,000 refugees between the end of 1943 and 1945. The sketches depict displaced persons, symbol of the suffering of thousands of people fleeing the bombing and devastation of war, and bread, emblem of the sustenance and solidarity offered by the San Marino people at a time of extreme hardship.
