About Lithuanian Culinary Heritage, Zeppelins
Considered one of the most prominent dishes of Lithuanian cuisine, zeppelins arrived in our country more than a hundred years ago. In Samogitia, they probably originated from German Lithuania Minor, and in other regions of Lithuania through Lithuanian Jews, who had close ties with the Jewish communities of Northern Germany.
The dish got its name due to its similarity in shape to the legendary zeppelin airship designed by German general Ferdinand von Zeppelin.
