About 100 Years of the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan

On 17 August 2026, the Kyrgyz Express Post postage stamp "100 Years of the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan" is being put into circulation by the Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic pursuant to Order No. 69 dated 17 July 2026.

In 2026, Kyrgyzstan marks the centenary of one of the country’s most important humanitarian organizations – the Red Crescent Society. The Society is one of the oldest charitable organizations of the Kyrgyz Republic, providing healthcare assistance, as well as support in emergencies, natural disasters, and social challenges.

The founding date of the Red Crescent Society of the Kyrgyz Republic is October 6, 1926. On this day, the Red Cross Society was established in Kyrgyzstan, becoming part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. After Kyrgyzstan gained independence, the organization was given its current name – the National Red Crescent Society of the Kyrgyz Republic (NRCS KR).

The main areas of activity of the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan are: healthcare (improving the quality of treatment provided in Kyrgyzstan, developing early diagnosis of oncological and other serious diseases), emergency preparedness and response (program to assist those in need in emergency situations, training people to respond to natural disasters), social assistance (providing support to vulnerable groups of the population, as well as professional, social and psychological assistance to people facing difficult life situations), organizational development and international relations (promotion of knowledge about International Humanitarian Law, volunteering, close cooperation with foreign humanitarian organizations). Particular attention is paid to training the population in first aid skills and strengthening community resilience.

The Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan is a full member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

KEP hopes that the issue of a commemorative stamp for the 100th anniversary of the Kyrgyz Red Crescent Society will draw increased attention to the noble work of this humanitarian organization and highlight the importance of the principles of compassion and mutual assistance that unite people around the world.
