Romfilatelia, the specialized company in issuing and trading philatelic items in Romania, is launching the second part of the postage stamp set marking the anniversary of important Romanian and foreign artists. The philatelic issue comprises four stamps dedicated to the following personalities:

Alexandru Macedonski (1854-1920): The notorious Romanian writer is considered to be on of the predecessors of Romanian Symbolism. His most important creations are entitled “Poetry” and “Nights”. Furthermore, some of his writings have been published in French. He is present on the 2,000 Lei (ROL) stamp.

Vivtor Babes (1854-1926): The Romanian doctor, member of the Romanian Academy, is present on the postage stamp of 3,000 Lei (ROL). The prestigious doctor is one of the founders of modern microbiology and co-author of the first treaty of bacteriology in the world. He also introduced anti rabies vaccination in Romania and dealt with prophylactic medicine issues such as water supply and anti-epidemic planning.

Arthur Rimbaud (1854-1891): The French poet name Jean-Nicolas Arthur Rimbaud is one of the most prestigious representatives of the French Symbolism. By promoting unchained lyrics and poetry, he gained the appreciation of poetry contemporary avant-garde. His masterpieces entitled “Illuminations” and “Une saison en Enfer” had a major impact on modern literature. The image is illustrated on the 6,000 Lei (ROL) stamp.

Salvador Dali (1904-1989): The exquisite Spanish artist named Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali Y Domenech is famous for his surrealist works in which he explores the human subconscious. His creations describe a dream world with deformed or transformed objects illustrated in a bizarre and irrational manner. The Spanish artist is present on the stamp of 56,000 Lei (ROL).
