Elvis Aaron Presley, American singer, musician and actor, was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He lived in poverty during his childhood and at the age of thirteen moved to Memphis, Tennessee. For a brief time, he worked as a truck driver. His singing career began in 1953, when he attracted the attention of Sam Philips, manager of Sun Records. The songs "That's All Right, Mama" and "Blue Moon of Kentucky" became popular in 1955. In 1956, he recorded his first big hit, "Heartbreak Hotel". Other hits quickly followed, including "Hound Dog" and "Don't be Cruel" for RCA. Elvis Presley hits quickly achieved planetary stardom as an interpreter and creator of a new image in rock'n'roll.

He was the idol of an entire generation of American and world youth. His recordings sold millions. He also made several movies: Love Me Tender, Loving You, Jailhouse Rock, Flaming Star, Viva Las Vegas and others. In 1967, he married Priscilla Beaulieu, from whom he was divorced in1973. Elvis Presley died of a heart attack at the age of 42 on August 16, 1977. Following his death, he became a legend and cult figure. Thousands and thousands of fans continue to visit his home in Graceland and his grave in Memphis.
