Non-professional or amateur movie is a specific type of film, in which moving images created under the "baton" cinema enthusiasts who have no formal film education and his screenplay ideas transferred to celluloid strip individually or as members of organized cinema clubs.

Unlike the professional film, which only last ten years experienced some expansion, amateur moving image in Banja Luka have a long tradition for seven and a half decades. From "Cities and regions of Vrbas Banovina," the founder of the non-professional film in Banja Luka, which (now distant) 1937 was created by Spiridon Spiro Bocaric and Charles Derry, to this day, through the history of cinema amateur in the largest city of the Republic of Srpska, paraded about thirty authors, who left behind a legacy of even common 162 feature films, documentaries and experimental films, shot on film formats 16 mm, 2x8 mm and super 8 mm.
The above-mentioned Bocaric and Derry, then Alexander Bojko, Ismet Ibrisagic Ljubinko Bato Smoljanovic, Miljko Sindic, Jovan Babic, Slavko Podgorelec, Velimir Bojko, Slobodan Stanisic and Kamenko Muratagic and Darko Aleksic, Ratko Klaric, Edin Tahirovic, Kobaslic Adem, Samir Hamzabegovic and others have recorded his small camera movie clips tremendous historical value, but also the anthology works in the genre of documentary and feature films, which would not be ashamed nor their fellow professionals.

Tercentenary cinema amateurism duration in Banja Luka to serve on the honor and pride of the "Beauty of Krajina", but this kind of filmmaking is still unknown to the local public. Banja Luka's achievements cinema amateurs merits attention because a few thousand meters of the celluloid strip, as they take you into the narrow movie lovers, a priceless cultural treasure and an important - but, unfortunately, forgotten - a part of film history in this city.
