About 125 years of the Post Office Samac

125th anniversary of opening of Postal Station in Bosanski Samac, today known as Samac, will be celebrated in February 2008.

Postal Station was opened on February 12, 1883 by the occupying troops of Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. It was under territorial competence of Hungarian Post Administration.

Morse's telegraph from Austro-Hungarian era was in function until 1966 and moving of Post into new premises. Telegraph was connected to the telegraph station in Brcko, and call for making connection was letter K.

During this time, exchange of mail with neighboring corresponding Post Offices from Crkvina, Gornja Slatina, Domaljevac, Orasje with mail from Post Offices from Obudovac and Bok near Orasje, was performed by bus which was driving on route Gradacac-Samac-Orasje-Brcko-Tuzla and back, with departure from Gradacac at 06:00 a.m. and return to Gradacac at 18:00 p.m.

All materials for this region were shipped by train Sarajevo-Belgrade 4 and Belgrade -Sarajevo 4 with exchange of mail at the train station in Bosanski Samac, at 01:30 hrs at night.
