Memory to the President of RS Milan Jelic
Milan Jelic was born on March 26th 1956, in Koprivna near Modrica. He completed secondary school in Doboj, and Faculty of Economics in Subotica. He was awarded master and PhD degree at the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka.
As eminent economist he worked for four years in the Office of the State Administration in Modrica, then he was director of the company "28.juni" Modrica, and gained greatest popularity as a general director of the company Refinery of Oil Modrica. As famous economist he received many awards: the best manager of Republic of Srpska in 2002, manager of the decade in BiH in 2003, Brussels Eureka "Medal for creation" in 2005, "Charter of the City" the most important award in Modrica and Order of St. Sava of the First Degree".
He was the president of the Football Association of Republic of Srpska and Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He also worked as a professor at the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka.
He was Minister of Agriculture, Energetics and Development in the Government of Republic of Srpska from March 2006.
By the will of people he was elected for the President of Republic of Srpska in November 9th 2006.
He died suddenly on September 30th 2007. Republic of Srpska lost not only the president but economist, politician, professor, sport expert and parent particularly.
He was married to Milica and had a son Petar.
Today we have Foundation named Milan Jelic's legacy to his contribution to development of Republic of Srpska.
