Palaces In Hungary II
The palaces on the new miniature sheet are shown in the following order:
The Tisza Palace in Geszt was built around 1760 in baroque and Louis Seize style. • the Forgách–Lipthay Palace • Hungary’s most visited and third largest palace is the baroque Festetics Palace in Keszthely. • The baroque Zichy Palace is in Várpalota. • The Wenckheim Palace in Szabadkígyós was designed by Miklós Ybl and built between 1875 and 1879. • Becsky–Kossuth Manor House in Komlódtótfalu was built in the first decades of the 19th century and came into the possession of the Kossuth family in 1860 by marriage. • Nádasdy Palace in Nádasdladány is one of Hungary’s most beautiful palaces from the historic revival period. • Built based on the ideas of Count Gyula Andrássy, the Andrássy Palace in Tiszadob is another fine example of the country's historic revival palace architecture.
The background of the miniature sheet is composed of a montage of the exteriors, interiors and façades of the palaces. The first day cover and postmark feature an ornament from the façade of the Tisza Palace.
