About World Amateur Radio Day - Amateur Radio Association of Herceg Bosna

No limits are an obstacle for radio amateurs. They put their knowledge and experience in the field of technique and technology at the service of others, helping to maintain communication in crisis situations (war, accidents, natural disasters). Their day - the World Amateur Radio Day is celebrated on 18 April.

The Association of Radio Amateurs of Herceg Bosna (ZRHB - Zajednica radioamatera Herceg Bosne) is a voluntary and non-profit association of citizens founded on 25 March 1993 in Široki Brijeg. It operates and develops its activities in the field of electronics, radio and satellite communications, for the purpose of development, protection and promotion of amateur radio and amateur activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through amateur radio courses and presentations, it introduces young people to the interesting field of radio engineering, electronics, informatics and computer technology, which contributes significantly to increasing the general level of technical knowledge in society. It currently gathers over 12,000 members who have passed the amateur radio class, and it has one of the most modern communication systems in this part of Europe.

It has analogue and digital amateur radio repeaters that cover a large part of BiH. Due to their reliable communication network of radio repeaters, they are often used by the Mountain Rescue Service, and in cases of emergencies (such as the outbreak of the epidemic caused by the coronavirus), they transfer its resources to the Civil Protection Unit.

Members of the Association of Radio Amateurs of Herceg Bosna are achieving notable success at world amateur radio competitions.
