About Historical and Cultural Monuments of Armenia

On June 6th, 2022, three postage stamps dedicated to the theme “Historical and cultural monuments. Historical and cultural monuments of Armenia” have been put into circulation.

“HayPost” CJSC has issued a donation coupon for 120 AMD attached to three postage stamps with the nominal values of 230, 340 and 350 AMD. The 120 AMD donation value will be directed to the preservation of the historical and cultural monuments of Armenia.

The postage stamp with the nominal value of 230 AMD depicts the royal tomb of Aghdzk (IV c. A.D.) located in Aghdzk village in Aragatsotn Region. The royal tomb is the mausoleum of the Armenian Arshakuni kings. The continuous excavations record new and interesting facts revealing the traces of various structures that confirm the importance of Aghdzk.

The postage stamp with the nominal value of 340 AMD depicts Khoranashat monastic complex (XIII c. A.D.) located in Chinari village of Tavush Region. The monastery complex was founded by Vanakan vardapet, a prominent ecclesiastical figure of Medieval Armenia. Nowadays, the monastery's Saint Astvatsatsin Church, its narthex, the Holy Sunday Chapel, some tombstones and remains of other structures are preserved.

The postage stamp with the nominal value of 350 AMD depicts Srvegh Monastery (XIII c. A.D.) located in Aygehovit village of Tavush Region. The main Saint Nshan Church of the monastery is one of the wonderful samples of the brick structures of Medieval Armenia. The excavations and research works are currently being carried out on the territory of the monastery.
