About Chinese New Year - Year of the Rabbit

On January 30, 2023 the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic puts into circulation a 2022 Kyrgyz Express Post postage stamp: "Year of the Rabbit".

According to the traditional Chinese calendar, the coming year 2023 will be the Year of the Black Water Rabbit. It will begin on January 22, 2023 and last until February 09, 2024.

The Rabbit is the fourth animal sign of the Chinese zodiac. According to an ancient legend, the fourth year of the lunar cycle is to be the happiest one. No wonder, therefore, that the Rabbit is one of the most beloved zodiac signs in Chinese astrology. It is associated with the earth element and the symbol of yin (the feminine principle of the world). The Year of the Black Water Rabbit occurs once every sixty years.

In Chinese mythology, the Rabbit is the only animal that lives on the moon along with the goddess Chang'e. In 2013, China even named its first robotic lunar rover Jade Rabbit.

The Year of the Rabbit predicts well-being, romance, communication and family happiness. It is believed that this year, family conflicts and quarrels with dear people will be bypassed, and the houses this year will be full of prosperity and love.

KEP congratulates all its friends and wishes everyone health, happiness, good luck and prosperity in the new year 2023. Happy New Year!

For this stamp, KEP also issues a postcard, which is used to realize a maximum card.
